🛡️ peerglass - Reliable internet resource insight

Download peerglass

📋 About peerglass

peerglass is a tool designed to provide clear and structured information about internet resources. It helps users understand details around IP addresses, networks, and their validity. This software gathers data from various trusted sources like regional internet registries, routing information, and peering databases. Its main functions include:

  • Showing registration details for IP addresses and networks (RDAP).
  • Checking if route origin data is valid (RPKI validation).
  • Providing visibility into Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) data.
  • Listing contacts for reporting abuse.
  • Offering information about peering arrangements and network statistics.
  • Supporting both IPv4 and IPv6 address formats.

This makes peerglass suitable for anyone who wants to learn about internet infrastructure or verify the authenticity of network resources.

🚀 Getting Started with peerglass

You do not need previous technical experience to use peerglass. This guide will help you download, install, and start the software on a Windows computer.

System Requirements

  • Windows 10 or newer.
  • At least 4 GB of RAM.
  • 200 MB of free disk space.
  • Internet connection for data updates.

Hardware Recommendation

The application works best on a computer with a stable internet connection and enough resources, especially if you plan to keep it running for extended periods.

🖱️ How to Download and Install peerglass

Step 1: Download the software

Click the button below to open the download page.

Download peerglass

The download page will list the available files. Look for the latest Windows executable file. It should have a name ending with .exe. Usually, it is located under the "Releases" section.

Step 2: Save the file

After clicking the .exe file, your browser will ask where to save it. Choose a location you can find later, such as the "Downloads" folder.

Step 3: Run the installer

Find the file you downloaded. Double-click the .exe file to start the installation.

  • If Windows asks for permission, click "Yes" to allow the installer to run.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions. The installer will guide you through the process.
  • Choose the default settings unless you want to change the installation folder.

Step 4: Finish installation

When the installer completes, you may see an option to launch peerglass. You can start the program immediately or open it later from the Start menu.

🛠️ Using peerglass for the first time

After opening peerglass, you'll find a clean and simple interface designed to show network resource information.

Main features to try:

  • Search IP or Network: Enter an IP address or network prefix to get official registration details.
  • Check RPKI status: See if a route is validated or suspicious.
  • View BGP data: Look at how your network connects to others.
  • Find abuse contacts: Quickly find where to report network problems.
  • Explore Peering and Stats: Understand the networks exchange data and traffic volumes.

Each section uses clear labels and buttons without technical jargon. Hover over items for more explanations when needed.

⚙️ Updating peerglass

Internet data changes constantly. To keep your information up to date:

  • Open peerglass.
  • Find the "Update" or "Refresh" button in the main menu.
  • Click it to download the newest data.
  • Wait until the process completes before working with the app again.

Updates may take a few minutes depending on your internet speed.

📂 Where peerglass stores data

By default, peerglass saves its data files in the user folder under:

C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\peerglass\data

You do not normally need to access these files. Advanced users can back up this folder or check files if necessary.

🧩 Supported protocols and sources

peerglass works with:

  • RDAP: Registration Data Access Protocol for querying IP and network registration details.
  • RPKI: Resource Public Key Infrastructure for verifying route origins.
  • BGP: Border Gateway Protocol data for routing information.
  • PeeringDB and various Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) like AFRINIC, APNIC, ARIN, LACNIC, RIPE NCC.
  • Standards from ICANN, IETF, and IANA are followed to keep data accurate.

🐞 Troubleshooting tips

If you run into issues with peerglass, try these steps:

  • Make sure your internet connection is active.
  • Restart the application.
  • Check that Windows is up to date.
  • Temporarily disable antivirus or firewall if they block the program.
  • Reinstall peerglass if errors continue.
