🎯 target-tracking - Track Multiple Objects in Real Time

Download target-tracking

📋 What is target-tracking?

target-tracking is a software that lets you track many objects in videos. It processes video files to show moving objects with bounding boxes, IDs, and labels. It uses popular detection methods to find targets and smart algorithms to follow them over time. The system is easy to use, even without technical skills. It helps in areas like video review, security cameras, and driver assistance.

💻 System Requirements

Before you download and use target-tracking, make sure your computer meets these requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • CPU: Intel i5 or equivalent AMD processor, 2.5 GHz or faster
  • RAM: At least 8 GB
  • Disk Space: Minimum 1 GB free storage
  • Graphics: A video card supporting DirectX 11 or newer is recommended
  • Additional: Video files in common formats like MP4, AVI, or MOV

This software runs on standard Windows machines. It does not need special hardware but works faster if your computer supports modern graphics features.

🔽 Download and Installation

To get target-tracking on your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the download page: Click the big green button below or go directly to the release page in your browser.

Download target-tracking

  1. Find the latest Windows version: Look for the file with the name ending in .exe or .zip under the latest release. The file size is usually around a few hundred megabytes.

  2. Download the installer file: Click on the file link to start downloading. Save the file to an easy-to-find location like your desktop or downloads folder.

  3. Run the setup: Open the downloaded file by double-clicking. If it is a .zip, extract it first by right-clicking and selecting Extract All.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions: The setup wizard will guide you through the installation. Choose default options unless you have a specific reason to change them.

  5. Complete the installation: When done, you can launch the software from your desktop or start menu.

▶️ Running target-tracking on Videos

Once installed, target-tracking works simply by running commands in the Windows Command Prompt.

  1. Open Command Prompt:

    • Press Win + R, type cmd, then press Enter.
    • This opens a text-based window where you will type commands.
  2. Navigate to the installation folder:

Use the cd command (change directory) to enter the folder where target-tracking is installed. For example:

    cd C:\Program Files\target-tracking

  3. Prepare your video:

Make sure your video file is saved on your computer and is in a common format such as MP4 or AVI.

  4. Run the tracking command:

Type the following command, replacing yourvideo.mp4 with the name of your video file:

    target-tracking.exe --input yourvideo.mp4 --output result.mp4

  5. Wait for processing:

The program will analyze your video and create a new file called result.mp4. This file will show detected objects with bounding boxes, ID numbers, and categories.

  6. View results:

Open the result.mp4 file with any video player to see the tracking in action.

⚙️ Common Options Explained

target-tracking supports several settings you can use to make tracking fit your needs better. Here are some common ones:

  • --input <file>
Path to the video you want to analyze.

  • --output <file>
Name of the video file to save the results.

  • --model <model_name>
Choose which detection model to use. The default is YOLO. Other options may be available.

  • --tracker <tracker_name>
Select the tracking algorithm. Options include ByteTrack, SORT.

  • --vlmodel
Enable the optional visual language model that can classify object types more precisely.

Use these options together. For example:

target-tracking.exe --input test.mp4 --output tracked.mp4 --tracker ByteTrack --vlmodel

🛠 Troubleshooting Tips

If you run into problems, try the following:

  • Make sure your video file path and names are correct and contain no special characters.
  • Run Command Prompt as Administrator if you get permission errors.
  • Check that your system meets the minimum requirements.
  • Ensure you have the latest version by revisiting the download page.
  • Close other programs that might use a lot of memory while tracking runs.
  • Try a sample video file to see if the problem is with your input.

📁 File Structure Overview

After installation, your folder will look like this:

  • target-tracking.exe — The main program file you run.
  • models/ — Contains detection and tracking model files.
  • examples/ — Sample videos to test the software.
  • README.md — This user guide.
  • config/ — Settings files for advanced options.

📷 About the Technology

target-tracking uses several proven algorithms to detect and follow objects:

  • YOLO detects objects in each video frame quickly.
  • ByteTrack or SORT track objects between frames and assign unique IDs.
  • Optional visual language models add object category recognition.

This design ensures speed and accuracy in multiple situations. The software can handle different video sources and resolutions.

📊 Use Cases

target-tracking can help in these scenarios:

  • Watching security footage to identify people or vehicles.
  • Researching traffic patterns using road camera videos.
  • Checking behavior of moving objects in videos.
  • Assisting in autonomous driving research.
  • Analyzing sports videos to follow players.

💡 Tips for Best Use

  • Use good quality videos with clear views of objects.
  • Keep video files local on your computer for faster processing.
  • Try different models and settings to match your use case.
  • Use shorter videos first to test and understand how output looks.
  • Back up your original video before running processing.
